A renovated farmhouse nestled on a private estate, Villa Leonardo charms with cozy interiors and lush garden. The 12 acre grounds provide peace, quiet and spectacular views of the countryside near Montespertoli, in the heart of Chianti, but Florence is just 30 minutes away. Take a break from it all in beautifully restored surroundings, or use the villa as a base for exploring Tuscany.
Villa Leonardo is well suited to both play and work, if you must. Drive through the property’s remote-controlled gate and onto the gravel courtyard in front of the vine-covered house. At the back of the house, a long terrace has sunny areas for lounging and a covered area for al fresco dining. The fenced-in pool has its own patio, complete with chaise longues and umbrellas. If you can’t completely unplug, the villa does have a computer, printer, fax machine and Wi-Fi access.
Inside, the villa is charming and cozy. Beamed ceilings, painted wood trim, brick floors and a fireplace make the living room feel rustic and casual, while accents like wrought-iron furniture and a chandelier in the dining room add a touch of elegance. The spacious eat in kitchen pairs state-of-the-art appliances with a cheery tile backsplash and farmhouse-style shelving, and opens to the terrace.
Villa Leonardo’s six bedrooms are spread out over two floors. On the ground floor, one bedroom has two twin beds and a private adjacent bathroom, and the second bedroom has two twin beds, an en-suite bathroom and access to the garden. The other four bedrooms, all on the second floor, have optional air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. There are two bedrooms with king beds, and two bedrooms with two twin beds each.
During your stay, take time to visit the nearby medieval village of Montespertoli, once owned by the Machiavelli family and now a hotspot for wine festivals. Horseback riding, tennis and golf are also close by, or if you’re looking for a more urban adventure, make the 30 minute drive to Florence. Just a bit farther are San Gimignano, 21 miles away; Siena, 41 miles away; and Pisa, 45 miles away.

Additional Information What to do in the Chianti region of Tuscany?
Don't miss a visit to the town of Montespertoli, in the center of the Chianti region. "A terrace overlooking the world" is the most accurate definition of this lovely town, which boasts views from high above Florence and convenient proximity to other large tourist areas of Tuscany. Montespertoli considers itself one of the capitals of Tuscan wine, and each year from the last Sunday in May to the first Sunday in June, holds a Chianti Wine Festival and a Stamp Exhibition about wine and vines. The first weekend after November 6th is the time for a local festival for "Vino Novello." The medieval town of Montespertoli had an important role due to its road network, which permitted Florence to carry out commerce in the direction of Volterra and Siena. Worth a visit is the castle which flanks Montespertoli (it belonged to the Machiavellis) and the "Museum of Sacred Art" located in the ample and beautiful presbytery of the Pieve of San Piero in Mercato. The precious paintings, silverworks and hangings are testimony of the historical and artistic importance of the area.
