Discover the wild Maremma region of Tuscany from Villa Maremmana. Set on a large estate, this six bedroom farmhouse has been owned by the same family for over a hundred years and was recently restored. It’s an ideal base for exploring nearby towns like Massa Marittima and Grosseto and the coast near Punta Ala or simply relaxing and playing a round on the private golf course.
The villa’s large estate is perfect for horseback riding or walking; don’t forget to sample produce from the vegetable garden or the olive oil, honey, wine and jams produced on the property. There’s furnished space for outdoor dining and a pool with a view of the surrounding valley; the pool house has a Turkish bath and ping-pong table. Inside the villa, you’ll find a billiards room, a study with a computer, and high-speed Internet access.
Large windows let in the Tuscan sun, and pastel walls and stone floors bounce the light around for a warm, airy feel. Gather around the central fireplace in the living room, or enjoy a cozy dinner by the light of the traditional Tuscan fireplace in the dining room. Not only is the kitchen fully equipped, but painted millwork and a marble backsplash create a charming atmosphere.
Each of Villa Maremmana’s seven bedrooms has air conditioning, and each bathroom has a towel heater. There are two bedrooms with king beds and en-suite bathrooms, one of which opens to a balcony, and two bedrooms with two twin beds and en-suite bathrooms. The fifth bedroom has a king bed and shared private bathroom, and the sixth bedroom has two twin beds and a shared private bathroom. There is also an annexe bedroom with queen size bed adn en-suite bathroom with large shower nd closet.
Though you could spend your time at Villa Maremmana simply lounging by the pool or at one of the two nearby spas, the region is well worth exploring. Play a round at the estate’s private twelve-hole golf course, just a 10 minute drive away, hit a few balls at the tennis court that’s 5 minutes away, or saddle up at the nearby horseback riding center, which offers guided excursions. The beach is a 25 minute drive away, the harbor town of Punta Ala is 35 minutes away and it’s 17 miles to the regional center of Massa Marittima.

What to do in the Maremma region of Tuscany?
This extraordinarily lovely stretch of Italy sits between Rome and Pisa, offering expansive, breathtaking views of the islands of Giglio and Elba. Highlights of the area include the unspoiled fishing village of Castiglione della Pescaia, endless stretches of incomparable beaches, and the medieval village of Massa Marittima. This enchanting cobble-stoned village has become greatly popular and is home to many international artists and socialites. Also worth a visit is the magical and mysterious city of Volterra, with its roots in three thousand years of history. Today the city preserves above all its medieval qualities, not only in its 12th-century city walls, but also in its urban layout with narrow streets, palaces, tower houses and churches. Strongly recommended are visits to the surrounding towns of Populonia and Baratti, Suvereto, Campiglia Marittima, Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri.
Numerous day trip possibilities include the chic harbor of Puntala and the major art cities of Siena, Pisa and Florence. Boat rentals for cruising around the coast are available, and private tours of the region's many acclaimed wineries can be arranged.
