Enjoy a truly Tuscan getaway at villa Rita. The five-bedroom property is set on a hill outside the spa town of San Casciano dei Bagni and has panoramic views of the Val d’Orcia region, designated a World Heritage site for its pastoral landscapes. Traditional architecture and furnished outdoor spaces invite guests to make themselves at home; the two quiet resident dogs will make pet lovers feel particularly welcome.
The centerpiece of the house is its furnished covered patio and pergola, which make the perfect spot to start the day with the included breakfast service or enjoy a glass of wine at sunset. The patio has spectacular views of the surrounding hills, and steps lead down to the inground pool. The property is divided into a main villa and separate pavilion, offering a private retreat complete with kitchenette, and the main villa has Wi-Fi access.
Villa Rita’s living areas have traditional style with a sophisticated twist. In the combination living and dining room, a sectional sofa is angled cozily around a large fireplace, and a second living room has three sofas around its own fireplace, creating plenty of space for reading or games. The fully equipped kitchen has its own rustic charm, with modern appliances paired with country style cabinets and stone countertops.
There are four bedrooms in the main villa and one in the separate pavilion. In the main villa, the master bedroom has a queen bed, en-suite bathroom, seating area, walk-in closet and TV. There are two more bedrooms with queen beds, one with an en-suite bathroom with jetted tub and one with a private bathroom. The fourth bedroom, perfect for families with children, has two twin beds and a queen bed and an en-suite bathroom. In the pavilion, there’s a bedroom with a queen bed and daybed. The annex has two bedrooms, one with a double bed adn the other with twin beds.
The villa is a short walk from town and close enough to major cities for a day trip. Spend a day at the Roman thermal spas of San Casciano dei Bagni, a 15 minute walk from Rita. Siena is an hour away by car, Florence is a 2 hour drive and Rome is a 2½ hour drive.

Additional Information What to do in the Southern region of Tuscany - While other parts of Tuscany have developed industries that have done much for the economy but little for the landscape, the "Crete Senesi" area and the neighboring "Val d'Orcia" have largely remained true to their early agricultural vocation. Today this means local products of outstanding quality, made with traditional methods and skills that are handed down from generation to generation. The best-known of these are Montalcino's distinguished Brunello red wine and the Vino Nobile of Montepulciano, both of which are the perfect complement to dishes based on the wild game of the area: pheasant, quail, hare, and wild boar. Likewise, the Pecorino cheeses made with ewe's milk from the Pienza pastures are now in great demand. One of the best food stores in the Pienza area is La Cornucopia (2 Piazza Martiri della Liberta) where you can find sweets, honey and cheeses.
While visiting the famous wine producing town of Montalcino and the artistic jewel of Pienza, you will be fascinated by their charm and history. Montalcino has a wealth of superb paintings and sculptures that make its beautifully renovated museum such a remarkable attraction. Pienza's beauty was used as a backdrop to Franco Zeffirelli's masterpiece: "Romeo and Juliet."
