Once an olive-oil press for the estate of Castiglion del Bosco, Villa Oliviera has been converted to a charming three-bedroom escape for a family or a few couples. With stunning views of the area around Montalcino, breezy living spaces and quiet, private bedroom suites, the villa offers all the traditional architecture and views of the Tuscan countryside with touches of romance and luxury.
Just outside the villa’s stone walls, you’ll find the true heart of the home: a broad terrace with both sunny and shaded sitting and dining areas, plus a heated pool with panoramic views of the countryside. A second terrace off the villa’s second floor has even more space for lounging or reading under the Tuscan sun. There’s plenty to love on the inside, too, from the pastry delivery to air conditioning, Wi-Fi access and a mini-bar.
The interiors of Villa Oliviera combine rustic charm with modern sophistication. In the living room, a white beamed ceiling, brick floors and a long brick hearth topped by a hefty wooden mantel speak to the villa’s past, while soft-toned sofas and striped chairs provide 21st-century comfort. The large eat-in kitchen is fully equipped and sets off dark brown millwork with white paint, yellow blinds and chairs and a bright tile backsplash.
The villa’s three bedrooms each have an en-suite bathroom, walk-in closet and flat-screen TV. There are two bedrooms with king beds and one bedroom with two twin beds. Each bedroom has traditional beamed ceilings, painted white, and charming accents, whether a wrought-iron four-poster bed, striped upholstered headboards or a kelly green velour sofa perfect for an afternoon nap.
From the hilltop of Il Borgo where Villa Oliviera is located, the extensive grounds and and championship-level golf course of the Castiglion del Bosco estate are just minutes away. By car, it’s 1 mile to the nearest restaurants, about 7 miles to the town of Montalcino and 28 miles to the hospital. Further away, it’s 75 miles to the Florence airport, 99 miles to the Pisa airport and 143 miles to the Rome airport.

Castiglion del Bosco is an age-old Tuscan estate. Its vineyards and fields, woods, farmhouse villas and ancient church bear witness to the care and attention of generations of farmers, landowners, artists and architects. The estate lies within the confines of the Val d'Orcia, an undulating landscape known for its enchanting beauty and seductive juxtaposition of colors and textures. Deep green in spring and golden in fall, this gentle land is also rich in art and culture. Carefully preserved ancient sites, dating back to the Etruscan era, blend in with art from the Medieval and early Renaissance periods. The area is also famous for its agriculture. The vineyards of the Val d'Orcia, including Castiglion del Bosco's own, produce one of the most coveted Italian red wines, Brunello di Montalcino, and its younger sibling, Rosso di Montalcino.
In addition to their deep-rooted appreciation for art, history, food and wine, Tuscans are great sports enthusiasts. Castiglion del Bosco offers ample opportunities to appreciate outdoor life to the full. Though a recent arrival, the 18-hole championship-standard Castiglion del Bosco Golf Club is already being ranked among the finest in Italy by golfing professionals. The extensive wooded hills and valleys on the vast estate provide endless scope for trekking, mountain biking, nature walks and hunting with the resident game warden. Fly fishing, horseback riding and hot-air ballooning are also among the activities offered on-site.
From Castiglion del Bosco, all of Tuscany is within easy reach.
